Híbridos

In this body of work, I created pieces in which ceramics and daily used objects, or abandoned materials interact with each other. This work seeks to capture my desire to find meaning and beauty in the everyday, in abandoned objects, in things that have lost their purpose, that are overlooked or disregarded, in what should not have happened and yet we transform and endure it.

I like to discover something special in the ordinary, not only in my creative practice but in my life. I dwell on the beauty of aging processes, deterioration, oxidation, humidity stains, burn marks, and leftovers from artist’s studios. I am always trying to find significance in the insignificant, to find beauty where not expected.

My intention with these pieces is to open the possibility of discovering new perceptions. I use materials as a resource to reflect and reconsider what it is that make us appreciate something, how open we are to considering a different perspective, and how often we let ourselves be surprised by the unexpected.
